2015 Subaru Impreza Common Problems

Known issues & solutions
Model Years:

Loss of engine power

Problem:

Over time the aluminium positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve may fracture, allowing the engine to draw an increased amount of engine oil. This may cause excessive exhaust smoke and possibly unexpected loss of engine power.

Excessive exhaust smoke or loss of engine power may result in an accident, or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Solution:

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and asked to arrange an appointment for inspection and repair, free of charge.

Engine Control Module issue

Problem:

Due to improper Engine Control Module (ECM) programming, the ignition coil may overheat, creating a short circuit and blowing the fuse.

If the fuse blows, the engine may stop while driving and not restart, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Solution:

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and asked to arrange an appointment for inspection and repair, free of charge.
